Queen, Abi Avery

My name is Abi Avery and I am very proud to be your 2016 Blue Ridge Rodeo Queen.  I attend Blue Ridge High School and will be a junior this fall.  My best friend and riding partner is Nic, and there is nothing we like more than riding and competing. In addition to riding, I volunteer with Grace Lakes Ministries, a therapeutic riding center, and with the children's ministry at Preston Trail Community Church. This fall I will again participate in the PALs program as well as FFA.

SWEETHEART

Abby is the daughter of J. Mart and Tonya Armstrong.  She is 11-years old and attends Whitewright Middle School.  The verse that guides her life is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Her passion for horses began at the early age of 4, consuming everything she could find on working and caring for horses.  She has been a member of the BRRC since 2011, competing in the monthly playdays, as well as competing in Equestrian Drill, the Blue Ridge Barrel Bash, and Winners Youth Rodeo.  When she's not in school she can always be found working her horses Rusty and Zoom.  She is resolved to one day compete in the National Finals Rodeo and to become an Equine Vet.
